Twitter Scares Me

I have a serious confession: Twitter scares the crap out of me. I now know what my grandmother must have felt like when we placed a smart phone in her hands for the first time. I just don’t get how to properly do all of the things. And, my feed fills up so quickly and it stresses me out that I’m not able to keep up with everything. I feel like I’m going to miss something important!
And, I don’t get retweets. I get the concept but people seem to just retweet everything. Why is this? If someone mentions me in a post, am I wrong if I dont retweet it??
I guess the main part of Twitter that I struggle with is the conversation aspects of it. On Facebook, when I post something, it’s all right there. I can easily keep up with how many people like it and all of the comments on the post. But trying to have conversations on Twitter stresses me out and gets confusing.
Is this just me? Am I just a Twitter baby and I’ll figure it out eventually? Does anyone have some cliff notes on Twitter that I can borrow?? I need some blogger consolation.
And, that’s all she wrote. Life is very busy lately BUT I was just reminded that I have Monday off for President’s Day and so will have a THREE DAY WEEKEND! You could say that I’m a little excited about that.

Oh man, I totally know what you mean, that’s how I felt when I first started Twitter too! I usually go by:
– If someone mentions you but it’s kinda rhetorical or is the end of a convo, you’d “favourite” the tweet so they know you’ve seen it :)
– I retweet (not often, but) things like other ppl’s tweets that I find funny or things I might agree with or even #FF (follow fridays) shootouts!
– Pretty much I just tweet about random things I see or do or like :)
I agree that the @connect tab is helpful with keeping up w conversations, but if you’re ever part of any of the blogger chats, I get so behind w convos in those that I tend to reply to some quite a bit later cause I just couldn’t keep up haha
It’ll get easier as ya go, no worries, if you need any help tho feel free to send me a tweet! :)
Try putting some Lists together to narrow down to those you really want to follow – I’ve got different ones for groups I’m in, Entertainment. Interesting People etc and really just look at those a few times a day.
I love twitter, but I’ve been using it for five years. It’s like one big convo. You just jump in whenever. You can see your entire convo when you are corresponding with someone. I don’t retweet every tweet that I’m mentioned in… only certain ones (i.e. a compliment, follow friday, saying something about my blog, etc). Also, I post my random thoughts and share and retweet articles that I have found that I love.
I think the whole point of twitter is chaos. I have stopped trying to keeping up with the exception of what shows up in my connect sections.
