Your dog is going to LOVE you for making this 3 Ingredient Dog Ice Cream that’s a great frosty paws copycat!! (I’m sure your dog already loves you but you get the point ?). it comes together in just a few minutes and can be stored in the freezer throughout the summer to reward those good pups you love so much.
We think this would also make a great cat ice cream too!

Today I’m sharing with you an OLD recipe from the blog that I’m revamping a bit with an updated recipe (took the honey out of the recipe because it wasn’t really necessary), updating the photos, AND adding a video for how to make it!
The heat index in Nashville this week is getting up above 100 degrees and for my 2 long haired pups, that’s just a bit too hot! I mean, for everyone that is a bit too hot but I imagine wearing a winter coat in the summer is not exactly fun. As a result, they don’t spend too much time outside during the worst of the heat.
Before making these, I suggest that you do a little bit of research to make sure that you are comfortable with your dogs consuming each of these 3 ingredients or maybe if there’s a special kind of yogurt you prefer. You should also make sure to check that the ingredients don’t contain anything that your particular pet might have any allergy to.
I’m happy with my dogs having all of these ingredients (just a little every once in a while) but everyone is different and has varying opinions on the matter. Okay? Let’s do this.

Ingredients:
- Plain Yogurt of choice – I most often use plain Greek yogurt but which yogurt you prefer will work well!
- Ripe banana – I most often make this with banana BUT you can easily swap this out for pure pumpkin puree (I usually use canned pumpkin) or even mashed sweet potato!
- Peanut butter – because I’ve never met a pooch that didn’t love peanut butter! You’ll just want to check the ingredients and make sure that it doesn’t have an xylitol in it as that is toxic for dogs.
- Optional add ins: you can easily add any doggy safe foods to this ice cream! I’ve added crumbled up dog treats to the top as well as blueberries and strawberry!
How to Make Dog Ice Cream:
This is ridiculously easy! Add all three of the ingredients (banana, yogurt, and peanut butter) to a blender and blend until creamy. You can also do this in a big bowl with a hand mixer or simply by hand if you’re ready to put a little muscle into it.
The mixture is then poured into whatever mold you have on hand. I used THIS paw print mold from Amazon BUT I’ve also done this using ice cube trays and mini Tupperware containers. They all work great and I promise your dogs won’t care either way. I’ll link a few other options at the bottom of the post too!

Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Once all of the ingredients are blended, pour the mixture into your desired containers for freezing.
- Place in the freezer for at least a few hours to harden.
- Feed to your pups and enjoy their excitement and gratitude (I like to pretend my dogs say thank you. I know they mean it).

Hi I so want to make this. I see you have a peanut butter recipe. I’m just worried about xylitol in peanut butter. The peanut butter you make is safe?
If you don’t want to make peanut butter, you could buy organic (ex: Nuts To You brand), and confirm the ingredients are just peanuts

Another idea you can do is use pineapple, this is great for those dogs that love to snack in the cat box or snack on other dogs’ poo.

So easy and the pups LOVED these. My babies are turning two tomorrow and I thought I’d make them something special. I put the ice cream in a cupcake pan and put some shredded carrot on top. Thank you so much for this!
Can I use light blueberry yogurt, I have that on hand now
I put them in ice cube trays and then freeze the cube trays as normal. Can flip the “treat cubes” to them and store the remainder in the trays for next time! Dogs love em!
